For more than 20 years, Scouting has been an important part of my life.  As a child, I grew up in Girl Scouts (and continue to lead a Girl Scout troop today).    

After my oldest son started school, we joined our local Cub Scout Pack. The experience has enriched my kids' lives and helped me become a better leader. As Cubmaster, I had the opportunity to mentor over 100 scouts, each of whom presented me with a learning opportunity.   

From leadership courses such as Wood Badge to online safety training, I continue to grow in my ability to mentor today's youth.  

Now, as Scoutmaster for the first BSA Troop for girls at our school, I have the opportunity to help young students enter our program as 5th graders and leave as Eagle Scouts - ready to take on the world.    

To me, the scouting program is about using adventure and the outdoors to grow the next generation of leaders—ideally while they are having too much fun to notice what amazing humans they are becoming.
